New Year – New glasses for celebrity stylist Gemma Sheppard’s family

During early January many of us make resolutions to be healthier – in fact taking care of our health was one of the top five of pledges Britons made in 2015.

With the latest research showing only 1 in 5 children who are eligible for a free eye test are having one, New Year is the perfect time to put it to the top of the list.

Gemma Sheppard, celebrity stylist and Vision Express brand ambassador, recently visited our Nottingham store with her twins Asa and Tallulah, and son Otto to do just that. Here she shares her experience…

As our family’s annual eye check-up appears on the calendar so quickly we make our collective eye appointments en masse! The joy of Vision Express is they make the process effortless and always explain everything to the kids, so in turn they love visiting the store – especially when it comes to them selecting new on-trend frames.

Since becoming brand ambassador four years ago, and turning 40 almost two years ago (eek), my eyes are continuing to deteriorate but the great news for us is that my kids have improved year on year. Through annual monitoring and regular, thorough check-ups, it is almost certain within a few years both Otto and Tallulah will no longer need to wear glasses. That said, they love their frames and have both made massive fashion statements with their eyewear. Gone are the days of being mortified to wear glasses!

This year Tallulah selected a pair of fantastic, geek-chic Ray-Bans – old school classics – and Otto opted for Ted Baker.

The beauty of glasses is they’ve become a fashion must-haves, opening up styles to suit everyone from toddler to grandma.

I selected myself a pair from the latest Exclusive Brand collection. For me this phenomenal range that Vision Express has so cleverly created is not only affordable but light, durable and massively trend-driven – right from classic shapes to the latest Tom Ford inspired seasonal look.

Think of something that matters to you – it’s probably an image that popped into your mind. We’re all constantly forming new memories and most of these are visual. As you’ll only ever have one set of eyes, you should take care of them. So, with a New Year and a commitment to a new you – book an eye test!
